About Nutrinfo
Nutrinfo helps you understand what is in your food. We turn official nutrition research into pages and tools that are fast, clear and free.
Where our data comes from
Food nutrition facts on Nutrinfo come from USDA FoodData Central, the reference food composition database published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service. We use the SR Legacy dataset, which covers 7,793 foods with up to 150 nutrients each. Each food page links to its original USDA record.
Percent Daily Values are calculated from the reference amounts the U.S. Food and Drug Administration uses on nutrition labels, based on a 2,000 calorie diet.
How we use AI
Our AI Meal Analyzer and Ask AI features use large language models to estimate the nutrition of meals and answer general questions. AI estimates are approximate. Where precision matters, use the USDA values on our food pages. AI answers are educational and never replace advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.
Our principles
- Accurate: we cite our sources and show where every number comes from.
- Free: every tool on Nutrinfo is free. Advertising keeps it that way.
- Private: calculators run in your browser, and we do not require an account.
